Discrimination between magnesium(ii) and calcium(ii) by 1,4,7-tris(2-hydroxyalkyl)-1,4,7-triazacyclononane ligands

Abstract

The title ligands and their possible diastereomeric forms show large selectivity differences for complexation of Mg II and Ca II which are related to the twist angle of the plane of coordinating hydroxy groups relative to the plane of macrocyclic ring nitrogens.
