Spectroscopy with the polarizable solvent diiodomethane

Abstract

The polarizable solvent CH 2 I 2 causes 1 H NMR upfield chemical shifts of 1.5 ppm as well as bathochromic shifts of a dye greater than those caused by polar solvents such as methanol.
