SorCS is highly expressed in the CA2 region of the hippocampus and is enriched in the postsynaptic region

In the adult murine brain, SorCS2 is highly expressed in region CA2 of the hippocampus as detected by anti-SorCS2 antibody as compared to non-immune IgG, and is localized SorCS2 to cell bodies and dendrites (a). SorCS2 immunoreactivity colocalizes with PCP4, a CA2 neuronal marker (b). In cultured hippocampal neurons, SorCS2 is detected on dendrites (MAP2 dendritic marker) rather than axons (SMI312 axonal marker) (c). Using 3D-SIM analysis, SorCS2 immunoreactivity (green) is colocalized with PSD-95 (in red, postsynaptic marker) (upper panel) but not Bassoon (in red, presynaptic marker) (lower panel). Representative colocalized puncta are highlighted by white arrows (d).
