Amino-acid Sequence of Porcine Pancreatic Elastase and its Homologies with other Serine Proteinases

Abstract

The primary structure of porcine elastase has been determined by classical procedures of enzymatic digestion and chemical sequence analysis and shown to be closely related to those of chymotrypsins A and B and trypsin. Differences in side-chains offer an explanation of the differences in substrate specificity.
