Selective Digestion of the Neurosecretory Material of the Hypothalamus and of the Neurohypophysis by Tissue Homogenates

Abstract

VARIOUS authors1,2 claim, mostly on indirect evidence, that the neurosecretory colloid material present in histological preparations of the hypothalamus and in the neurohypophysis is related to the hormones of the posterior lobe of the hypophysis, probably to the antidiuretic hormone. However, Hild and Zetler3 reported that some solvents extract the neurosecretory colloid material without modifying the antidiuretic activity.
