Fibre Chemistry Aims and scope

Abstract

The comparative study of the thermodynamic solubility of PAN in five solvents led to the following conclusions: the thermodynamic solubility of PAN, characterized by the experimental and calculated cloud point curves, differ significantly for two kinds of solvents: organic aprotic and inorganic aqueous solution of NaSCN; the solubility of PAN in an aqueous solution of NaSCN is much higher than its solubility in aprotic solvents; the solubility of PAN in a number of aprotic solvents (DMF, DMAA, DMSO, DMAA + lithium chloride) differs insignificantly.
