► We analyzed phylogeographic pattern and historical demography of an Atlantic forest bird. ► We did not find any marked genetic structure. ► Species seems to have experienced demographic expansion older than LGM. ► Coalescent simulations indicated population stability during the LGM with bottlenecks older than this period. ► Differences on the habitat requirements can explain this pattern observed here.
