Abstract

Bone is a biological nano-composite composed primarily of collagen and hydroxyapatite. The aim of this paper is to extraction of acid soluble type-I collagen from sea fish and in-situ synthesis of HAp/Collagen composite. The extracted collagen was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The FTIR study of extracted collagen showed the presence of amide protein which confirm the collagen-I. The composite material was characterized using XRD, FTIR, SEM and particle size distribution. The composite material showed peaks for collagen as well as for HAp as investigated by FTIR study.
