Further studies are needed to better understand the potential similarities and differences between these experiences. These differences in terms of phenomenology may be due to different underlying neurophysiological mechanisms specific to each of them (Bodart et al., 2018; Gosseries et al., 2020). This paper includes three studies describing the reassessment the psychometric properties of the NDE scale developed by Greyson (1983) and the development and validation of the NDE-C, a new scale to quantify NDE phenomenology.
