I believe the potential of most dental team members is underestimated significantly by dentists and office managers. Dentists receive little education in business or team building, and many dental office managers are equally unprepared, lacking management training or background. Conclusion
Team management will always be a challenge for dentists and office managers, not because their team members lack capability, but because they have not received proper training in the requisite skills. Practice owners will benefit if they acknowledge that the potential for significant improvement is there and follow the steps described here to bring out that potential.
