Most of the previous studies have measured the levels of heavy metal and their impact on diversity and population of microorganism and plankton (Padmini and Geetha, 2007; Vasanthi et al., 2012, 2013; Karthikeyan et al., 2020; Sharma and David, 2012; Jebakumar et al., 2018). Very few studies are available on macrobenthic fauna in Ennore estuary which are focused only on species composition with limited and discrete samplings (Natesan et al., 2017; Selvaraj et al., 2019).

All the isolates were identified up to genus level on the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequences (Table 2).
