Prevention of exacerbation of COPD has been recognised as an international priority to combat patients’ deterioration and reduce associated healthcare costs [7,8]. COPD is regarded as an ambulatory care sensitive condition, meaning that many hospital admissions are considered preventable through effective preventive care and management in the primary care setting [9].
