2007, NeuroscienceCitation Excerpt :In this study, the 250 μA and 500 μA groups showed no difference in ADT from those rats that received 0 μA. Because higher intensity stimulation results in faster development of generalized seizures (Pinel et al., 1974), it is possible that these two groups were showing seizure-induced increase in ADT. Seizure-induced suppression of future seizures has been suggested to be the result of a natural homeostatic mechanism necessary to maintain the interictal state (Bragin et al., 2002).
