Role of growth hormone in hepatic and intestinal triglyceride-rich lipoprotein metabolism
2021, Journal of Clinical LipidologyCitation Excerpt :Their results are divergent and no kinetic study has specifically focused on the metabolism of intestinal-TRL. Three different lipoprotein kinetic studies have shown an increase of VLDL production in GH-deficient patients compared to normal controls but with either a decrease17,18 or no effect on VLDL clearance19 leading to an increase of VLDL pool size. After GH replacement in GH-deficient patients the results are very inconsistent among lipoprotein kinetic studies with one having shown an increase in VLDL production and clearance with no change in VLDL pool size,20 one only a decrease in VLDL production at 8 weeks but no effect at 40 weeks of replacement21 and one no effect on VLDL metabolism.22
Studying apolipoprotein turnover with stable isotope tracers: Correct analysis is by modeling enrichments
2006, Journal of Lipid ResearchCitation Excerpt :Research groups that modeled enrichments (14, 76–81) switched to TTR modeling (56, 59, 82–87). Only a few groups have continued to model enrichments (88–94); however, one group that modeled TTR (95) has switched recently to modeling enrichments (96, 97). Although the studies by Cobelli, Toffolo, and Foster (10) and Foster et al. (11) both deal with the nonnegligible mass of mass isotope tracers, they fail to recognize the crucial distinction, illustrated in Fig. 5, between the unsteady state of a precursor and the steady state of the product.
