Separation of omphalopagus conjoined twins with ruptured omphalocele, complex biliary sharing and a choledochal cyst
2019, Journal of Pediatric Surgery Case ReportsCitation Excerpt :Others have reported finding an omphalocele in omphalopagus conjoined twins. Lobe and associates proceeded to surgery at 2 days of life due to concern for infection or rupture of a thin omphalocele membrane [9]. Ekenze reported a case of ruptured omphalocele that was closed at birth followed by elective separation at 10 months of age [10].
Hepatobiliary anomalies in conjoined twins
2011, Journal of Pediatric SurgeryCitation Excerpt :No control group was used for adjusting outcomes, and a comparison of the various techniques was impossible. Moreover, the rarity of conjoined twins required a study period spanning 20 years, and some changes in technique might have evolved based on our experience as well as emerging technologies over this period [5-11]. However, we did our best to standardize the care and our operative technique for these children.
Conjoined twins-past, present, and future

2002, Journal of Pediatric SurgeryCitation Excerpt :However, when the biliary systems are truly complex or obstructed, the preoperative 99mTcHIDA is not always helpful. Both Spitz et al3 and Lobe et al6 have reported cases of 99mTcHIDA tracer flow into the intestine but nonfilling of the gallbladders and an inability to discern independent versus shared biliary drainage. Cywes et al2 reported a 99mTcHIDA scan with sequential opacification of each gallbladder based on which he assumed there would be separate biliary drainage.
