2009, Biophysical JournalCitation Excerpt :For each microsphere position within 2 μm of the leukocyte surface, we calculated the local shear rate acting on the adherent leukocyte, γs, and normalized it to the wall shear rate, γw. Based on earlier CFD work (48), an angle, θ, was defined between the leukocyte peeling edge, leukocyte center and microsphere position (Fig. 5A, inset). Grouping shear rate measurements into similar stress regions, as shown in Fig. 5A (inset), we repeated the linear fit analysis to determine shear rate and ESL thickness.
