2017, Epilepsy and BehaviorCitation Excerpt :The GEPR model is composed of two independently derived inbred strains that exhibit a characteristic convulsive pattern in response to a standardized sound stimulus: the moderately epileptic GEPR-3 and the more severely epileptic GEPR-9. The GEPR strains were derived from Sprague–Dawley rats by selective breeding for audiogenic seizure susceptibility [13,83]. The GEPR strains show generalized tonic/clonic seizures (GTCSs) that are of forebrain and brainstem origin [84].
