Hippocalcin Gates the Calcium Activation of the Slow Afterhyperpolarization in Hippocampal Pyramidal Cells
2007, NeuronCitation Excerpt :To test whether hippocalcin must be membrane-bound to modulate IsAHP, we used dissociated neurons kept in culture for 8–9 days. Previous studies have reported difficulty in recording IsAHP in dissociated neuronal cultures (Alger et al., 1994) or that the IsAHP runs down within a few minutes of using standard electrophysiological techniques (Shah and Haylett, 2000). To examine the functional role of hippocalcin myristoylation in generating the IsAHP, we used a mutant, HCG2A, in which the normally myristoylated glycine is mutated to an alanine.
