Abstract

It is shown that the lattice Boltzman equation for hydrodynamics can be extended in such a way as to describe non-relativistic quantum mechanics.

A discrete reactive collision scheme for the lattice Boltzmann method

The lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) is a computational method for a wide variety of fluid flow and multi-physics phenomena. These include systems governed by reaction-diffusion and reaction-diffusion-advection equations which are of major interest in many scientific and engineering fields. Typically, reactions are incorporated into LBM by means of a reactive source term identical to the macroscopic reaction kinetics equations which is dependent on the local concentration of the chemical species. Alternatively we can formulate the source term at the level of the particle distribution function, which is the main variable in LBM simulations. This way we can mimic the velocity-dependent reactive collisions of particles. This was done in our work and we implemented it to a bimolecular reaction for several geometries and initial conditions. Comparison was made with the macroscopic reaction source term.
Numerical simulation for (3 + 1)D solitary wave of extended Zakharov–Kuznetsov equation in dusty plasma based on lattice Boltzmann method

This paper reports a study on the $(3 + 1)$ D solitary waves in dusty plasma governed by the extended Zakharov–Kuznetsov (ZK) equation by using the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). The lattice Boltzmann model is developed and the evolution of $(3 + 1)$ D solitary wave has been numerical simulated. The validity of the model is verified by numerical experiments. According to the results of numerical experiments the scheme in this work seems to be appropriate for the numerical study of the $(3 + 1)$ D solitary wave.
Pseudospectral computational methods for the time-dependent Dirac equation in static curved spaces

Pseudospectral numerical schemes for solving the Dirac equation in general static curved space are derived using a new pseudodifferential representation of the Dirac equation along with a simple Fourier-basis technique. Owing to the presence of non-constant coefficients in the curved space Dirac equation, convolution products usually appear when the Fourier transform is performed. To circumvent this problem, a strategy based on operator splitting and pseudodifferential operators allows for using an ordinary fast Fourier transform algorithm. The resulting numerical methods are efficient and have spectral convergence. Simultaneously, wave absorption at the boundary can be easily included using absorbing layers to cope with some potential unwanted effects of periodic conditions inherent to spectral methods on bounded domains. The numerical schemes are first tested on simple systems to verify the convergence, and are then applied to the dynamics of charge carriers in strained graphene.
