Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus infection of bone marrow: Lesions and pathogenesis
2019, Virus ResearchCitation Excerpt :In cases where two or more mAbs were reactive, "swine workshop cluster" (SWC) numbers were assigned. SWC3 was established as a myeloid monocytic-specific antigen and the porcine homolog of CD172a (SIRPα), a signal regulatory membrane glycoprotein (Alvarez et al., 2000; Blecha et al., 1994). SWC8 was found to be expressed on granulocytes, B lymphocytes, epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and CD8pos T lymphocytes, although the functional identify of SWC8 has not yet been established (Dawson and Lunney, 2018; Haverson et al., 1998; Saalmuller et al., 1998).
African swine fever virus infects macrophages, the natural host cells, via clathrin- and cholesterol-dependent endocytosis
2015, Virus ResearchCitation Excerpt :Porcine CD169, also known as Sialoadhesin is expressed by different populations of tissue macrophages, but not by monocytes, similar to what was described for its mouse and human counterparts (Munday et al., 1999). CD172a former SWC3 (Alvarez et al., 2000) was the first porcine myelomonocytic marker established (Blecha et al., 1994). CD107a/Lamp-1, the antigen recognized by mAb 4E9/11, is not restricted to macrophages (Bullido et al., 1997).

2005, Experimental HematologyCitation Excerpt :Indirect two-color staining was routinely performed in multiple tubes using unlabeled class Ic mAb (the primary stain), which bind to FITC-conjugated goat anti-mouse antibody (the secondary stain), versus biotinylated CD3, CD5, CD8, CD16 and SWC3a, and versus biotinylated 12.2.2 as a negative isotype IgMK-matched control followed by phycoerythrin-streptavidin. SWC3a is specific for porcine monocytes and granulocytes and does not stain porcine lymphocytes [25]. Two-color staining was used to determine the proportion cells of donor versus recipient origin in different lineages.
