Abstract

A method is described for injecting small amounts of axonal tracer substances into the central nervous system. Injected volumes can be quantified to within about 1 nl. The major component of the system is an inexpensive, disposable, glass microsyringe which can be pulled to a fine tip using a conventional glass microelectrode puller. The small deadspace in the syringe allows for ease of filling and minimum waste of the tracer.
