International trade, dietary change, and cardiovascular disease health outcomes: Import tariff reform using an integrated macroeconomic, environmental and health modelling framework for Thailand
2019, SSM - Population HealthCitation Excerpt :It is therefore critical to address the emerging NCD and CVD crisis in Thailand. The MED-health model for Thailand which we employ (Jensen et al., 2019) is constructed on the basis of a trade-focused macroeconomic Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model framework (Devarajan, Lewis, & Robinson, 1990; Robinson, 1991, pp. 885–947). This so-called ‘Standard Model’ framework is fully documented in Löfgren, Lee Harris, and Robinson (2002) and comes with a fully specified set of government indirect tax instruments including import tariffs.
Assessing the global poverty effects of antimicrobial resistance
2018, World DevelopmentCitation Excerpt :The database is aggregated into six sectors (crops, livestock, mining, processed food, other manufacturing, and services). The model is a member of a family of CGE models that models trade relationships using principles described in the 1-2-3 model (de Melo & Robinson, 1989; Devarajan, Lewis, & Robinson, 1990) and in standard multi-sectoral version for developing countries (Dervis, de Melo, & Robinson, 1982; Lofgren et al., 2013). A baseline scenario is defined to track the economic trends of “a world without AMR,” which resembles the long-term growth projections of the World Bank (2016).
