Abstract

This paper describes a nonlinear finite element procedure for form finding and load analysis of tension structures. Three methods are presented for form finding of the initial equilibrium configuration. The behaviour of tension structures under a variety of loading conditions is also investigated. The complete procedure for both form finding and load analysis functions is implemented in a program and is verified through applications to typical tension structures.
