The mental health and quality of life of adult patients with congenital heart disease
2013, International Journal of CardiologyCitation Excerpt :We initially assumed that the young median age (26 years) might have been responsible for the low rates of depressive and anxiety symptoms. However, a closer analysis shows that our findings are in line with those of other studies that have reported excellent psychological status in patients with CHD, compared with population standards [28–31]. This suggests good psychological adaptation among CHD patients, possibly resulting from close family relationships and involvement [28,32].
