Fabrication of a pH microsensor for local pH measurement during chromium electrodeposition from a trivalent chromium-based electrolyte
2022, Electrochemistry CommunicationsCitation Excerpt :They used a metal oxide-based coating as a sensitive layer to measure the local pH. Iridium oxide and scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) were also involved in that study. Nevertheless, various materials have been developed as coatings for local pH measurements over the years, including conducting polymers as PANI [3–5] or metal oxides such as IrOx, PtO2, RuO2, OsO2, TaO2, TiO2, SnO2, Sb2O3, WO3 [6]. Among these compounds, IrOx has been identified as the best candidate for carrying out local pH measurements, thanks to its stability and outstanding sensitivity [7–9].
Electrochemical polymerization of para-chloroaniline as highly redox-active poly(para-chloroaniline) on graphitized mesoporous carbon surface
2020, Electrochimica ActaCitation Excerpt :The high spatial resolution of SECM [37,49] helps in the elucidation of catalytic activity of nanoparticles. Several studies were reported for SECM of polyaniline [44,45,48,50–54]. Molina et al. reported a humps and holes like morphology of PANI film [45].
Electrochemical techniques for investigating redox active macromolecules
2016, European Polymer JournalCitation Excerpt :For example, single nucleotide mismatches in DNA arrays [84] based on the increased repulsion of the negatively charged redox mediator in the absence of base-pair mismatches have been demonstrated. Conductive polymers and redox active polymers have also been object of SECM studies to provide detailed insight into charge transport mechanisms, but also for microstructuring surfaces [85–87]. Molecular printboards have been obtained via multiple host-guest interactions from redox-active ferrocenyl (Fc)-functionalized poly(propylenimine) (PPI) dendrimers solubilized in aqueous media by complexation of the Fc end groups and β-cyclodextrin [88].
The effect of membrane equilibrium on the behaviour of electrochemically active polymers
2016, Journal of Electroanalytical ChemistryCitation Excerpt :In turn, and in the absence of an excess of supporting electrolyte, this fact yields a change of the Donnan potential and the adjustment of the internal concentrations to maintain the electro neutrality inside the polymer. It has been experimentally measured that during the oxidation- reduction cycles there are proton and anion ejection/injection from and into the film (see, for instance, [30–36] and references therein). This is a consequence of the variations in the Donnan potential in order to maintain the electroneutrality inside the film.
Monitoring electroactive ions at manganese dioxide pseudocapacitive electrodes with scanning electrochemical microscope for supercapacitor electrodes
2012, Journal of Power SourcesCitation Excerpt :In this mode, the ES is scanned within a certain potential range, the UME is held at a constant potential ET, while the currents detected at the substrate (iS) and/or UME (iT) are recorded. Both techniques are particularly useful for identification of ion insertion or studying the kinetic barrier properties of surface modified electrode [9,29,30]. Fig. 3a shows the UME CV of the 1 mM [Fe(CN6)]3− solution containing 0.1 M KNO3 when the UME is far away from the MnO2 substrate.
