Abstract

The reduction of H2O2 on horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and horseradish peroxidase—gold sol (HRP-Au) modified electrodes has been studied with and without an electron transfer mediator. The amplification effect owing to the enzyme-catalyzed turnover of substrate facilitates our observation that HRP immobilized on colloidal gold and then deposited on a flat electrode surface can be reduced at a convenient rate at 0 V (Ag/AgCl) without an electron transfer mediator. Possible mechanisms and potential applications are discussed.

      Citation Excerpt :

Lately, nano size of Au-nanoparticles have been vastly used to immobilize protein due to their unique physical and chemical features [17]. Gold nanoparticles with tiny size may let more freedom in orientation for the protein molecules to expand the utilization of their bioactive sites [18]. The main goal of the present article is to investigate the structural, morphological and thermal behavior for PAM/CS blend loaded by different amounts for gold nanoparticles to use these nanocomposites in different applications.
