An index of lipid phase diagrams
2002, Chemistry and Physics of LipidsCitation Excerpt :Those familiar with lipids will recognize the majority of the lipids as they appear in the index with no knowledge of the rules. They are derived primarily from the guidelines recommended by the IUPAC-IUB Commission on Biochemical Nomenclature (http://www.chem.qmw.ac.uk/iupac/lipid/, http://www.chem.qmw.ac.uk/iupac/misc/phospho.html) (Biochemical Nomenclature and Related Documents, 1992aBiochemical Nomenclature and Related Documents, 1992bNilsson et al., 1991The nomenclature of lipids, 1977), and have been implemented in the literature to varying degrees. However, some deviations from this nomenclature ‘norm’ were deemed necessary for the index in pursuit of rigorous uniformity.
