2019, Mechanical Systems and Signal ProcessingCitation Excerpt :In order to study the chaotic motion of mechanism, many scholars and engineers have made a lot of progress on it and the planar slider-crank mechanism was used as a model in many studies [14–20]. Wilson and Fawcett [21] focused their emphasis on the geometry and mass distribution of the members of a slider-crank mechanism with translational joint clearance and they derived the system equations by Newtonian approach. Rahmanian and Ghazavi [22] studied the clearance sizes and crank angular velocity and presented a numerical technique for achieving the range of stability for a slider-crank mechanism with clearance.
A comprehensive survey of the analytical, numerical and experimental methodologies for dynamics of multibody mechanical systems with clearance or imperfect joints
2018, Mechanism and Machine TheoryCitation Excerpt :It was found that the theoretical and experimental results agreed quite well. Wilson and Fawcett [300] derived the equations of motion for all different possible configurations of the slider motion inside the guide, resulting in a total of 40 equations. These authors also showed how the slider motion in a translational clearance joint depends on the geometry, speed and mass distribution.
