Geodiversity and Geomorphosite Assessment Applied to a Natural Protected Area: the Ebro and Rudron Gorges Natural Park (Spain)

  • Published:
Geoheritage Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

Geodiversity and geomorphosites in a natural protected area in Spain are evaluated. The estimation of geodiversity has been calculated by habitat and by geomorphological unit based on the calculation method developed by Serrano and Ruiz-Flaño, and geomorphosites have been assessed for the same area. Finally, results from the calculation of geodiversity and geomorphosites are compared. The aim is to introduce a series of tools that the manager can apply to integrate abiotic aspects in the evaluation and protection of areas with outstanding natural diversity and considerable natural heritage.
