A study on effective flooding over MANET based on exchange of neighbor information

Abstract

When a disaster happens, a mobile ad hoc network is a useful and temporary network. In this situation, it is difficult to assign a unique IP address to each node. Although simple flooding can be used without addresses, it causes redundant message transmission and wastes battery resources. This paper proposes effective flooding based on neighbor information exchange-revised, which reduces power consumption by decreasing the number of redundant messages. Through computer simulation, we show the effectiveness of our method compared with the existing Simple Flooding method.
