A new nortriterpenoid saponin, 2α,3β,23-trihydroxy-30-nor-olean-12,20(21)-dien-28-oic acid-α-Lrhamnopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside was isolated from the fruit of Akebia trifoliata (Thunb.) Koidz. Its structure was elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data.
