A novel dimeric diarylheptanoid (E)-3-[3-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl)prop-1-enyl]-2,4,6-triphenethylpyridine (1), named officinine B, was isolated from the rhizomes of Alpinia officinarum Hance. Its structure was elucidated by spectral methods (1H NMR, 13C NMR, 1H–1H COSY, HMBC, and HR-ESI-MS).
