Abstract

Due to the increased number of out-of-hospital difficulties encountered in ensuring a patent airway, alternatives to intubation and facemask ventilation should be standard equipment for all physician-staffed emergency teams. The concept of two bases including a simple algorithm for emergency airway management is described. As a supraglottic alternative, the new LTS (laryngeal tube suction), a laryngeal tube with an additional esophageal drain tube, is used.
