Safety of electrical grids is only possible with properly working electrical protection devices. A new generation of distance and differential protection units gives advantages in selectivity and clearing time of faults. Communication interchange connections are an important part of this system. Their reliability must meet the same standards in quality as they are required for protective devices and systems.
