Editorial Expression of Concern to: Basic Res Cardiol (2017) 112:14 https://doi.org/10.1007/s00395-017-0604-7
Basic Research in Cardiology and its editorial team are deeply committed to publishing integrity. We are therefore publishing an editorial expression of concern to alert our readership to concerns regarding the integrity of this study [1].
According to the authors, in Figs. 2a and 8a the control lanes of the COX1 blot obtained for 18-week-old rats have been modified (rotated, horizontally flipped) and also used for 35-week-old rats.
Currently this matter is under investigation, following which editorial action will be taken as appropriate.
The authors have been informed about this statement and have not responded.
On behalf of the journal’s editorial team:

Change history
18 April 2018
The authors have retracted this article [1] because of modifications in the control lanes of Figs. 2a and 8a of the COX1 blot obtained for 18-week-old rats (rotation, horizontal flipping and re-use of the control lanes for the 35-week-old rats blot). In light of the concerns raised, the conclusions drawn in this article cannot be relied upon.
