Theoretical Chemistry Accounts (TCA) is very pleased to announce the opening of a new editorial office in Asia, where Roi Baer, Professor of Theoretical Chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Director of the Fritz Haber Research Center for Molecular Dynamics, will join us as Associate Editor. Professor Baer brings to this role his broad expertise in a wide spectrum of theoretical chemistry including quantum chemistry, chemical dynamics, and the theoretical and computational chemical physics of materials. Manuscript handling and responsibilities for acceptance decisions will be shared by the Editor and Associate Editor.

Professor Baer replaces Yundong Wu, who has stepped down after a brief stint as Associate Editor to attend to other commitments. We thank Professor Wu for his service and wish him continued success in his endeavors. Since its founding by Hermann Hartmann, subsequent TCA editors-in-chief have successively been Klaus Ruedenberg, Don Truhlar, and Chris Cramer. The previous associate editors have been Petr Carsky, Chris Cramer, Ernest Davidson, Nicholas Handy, Suehiro Iwata, Joshua Jortner, Werner Kutzelnigg, Rudolph Marcus, Josef Michl, William Miller, Keiji Morokuma, Björn Roos, Dennis Salahub, Fritz Schaefer, Don Truhlar, and Yundong Wu. We are pleased that Professor Klaus Ruedenberg continues to grace our journal as the honorary editor of TCA.

TCA is the oldest journal dedicated to the topic of theoretical chemistry, and it has a long and distinguished history of publishing some of the most important papers in the field, including—selected from among our most highly cited papers—important contributions by John Pople, Mike Zerner, Sigrid Peyerimhoff, and Björn Roos. TCA is proud to have played a leading role in the emergence of theoretical chemistry as one of the most active and successful subfields of chemistry, and this new associate editorship puts us in a position to continue that leadership. In 2012, TCA will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a special issue focused on new and emerging developments. With our continuing collection of peer-reviewed contributions in our regular and other special issues, with our distinguished selection of peer-reviewed feature articles in frontier areas, and with our new associate editor, we anticipate that TCA will continue to serve the theoretical chemistry, computational chemistry, and chemical modeling communities as they soar in the coming years to anticipated new heights in directions both expected and unexpected.
