Conclusions

As can be understood from the table, pentosans and solubility values of unsteamed samples are higher than others. This is due to the pretreatment which eliminates some extractives and low molecular weight compounds. The pH value of the unsteamed samples was also low compared with the values obtained from steamed samples.
