Abstract
Robotic surgery is being performed more frequently for a variety of gastrointestinal procedures. The place of this modality in treating rectal cancer is not yet clearly established. This review evaluates the literature since the first cases described in 2001 to determine the safety of this approach and to determine its advantages and limitations compared to the laparoscopic approach.
