Abstract

Principal component scores for members of the three largest ethnic groups tested in the Hawaii Family Study of Cognition were subjected to a 3×2×2 (ethnic group x sex x generation) analysis of variance with unequal subclass numbers. Large and highly significant sex-by-generation and ethnic group-by-generation interactions were found for measures of general and specific cognitive abilities. These results suggest the influence of cultural factors on these group differences in Hawaii.
