Summary
Aquarium air pumps in either pressure- or suction-mode have been applied to flow injection analysis (FIA) as low-cost solution-propelling devices. Combined with a novel low-cost injection valve, such pums have been used for acid-base titrations, for the determination of phosphate and ammonium ions, and for the determination of sodium, potassium and calcium with flame photometric detection.
