Conclusion

The ulcers on the upper part of the stomach have several characteristic signs comparing with those on the other part of the stomach.

As absolute indication for surgical operation, perforation and stenosis need not to be taken into account because of their rarity. Bleeding are more frequently observed in the ulcers on the upper part than those on the other part of the stomach.

The ulcers on the upper part are relatively difficult to heal.

Disturbances after the surgical operation were not so serious, but the fact that there was one patient who died soon after the operation, should not be forgotten, and the patients’ activity after operation must be restricted comparing with the ulcer cases of the other part of the stomach. So it must be careful to decide to operate or not, but some cases like bleeding ulcers or ulcers which have caused the severe symptoms for a long time can be indication for the surgical operation.
