The intermediate boson fieldW μ replacesA μ to take us from the electromagnetic to the weak case. Clearly it is irrelevant for our purpose whether such a field exists or not.
Using Haag's procedure (R. Haag:Phys. Rev.,112, 669 (1958);K. Nishijima:Phys. Rev.,111, 995 (1955);M. Zimmerman:Nuovo Cimento,10, 597 (1958), one can regardDA(ψ,πσ) as the local pion field operator. SeeS. Okubo andR. E. Marshak:Phys. Rev.,123, 382 (1961).
