Dans la région holarctique, le genreCyrtogaster est représenté par trois espèces connues,C. vulgaris Walker (cosmopolite),C. glasgowi Crawford (néarctique) etC. britteni sp. n., et le genrePolycystus Westwood par une seule espèce,P. clavicornis (Walker) (paléarctique).C. britteni est décrit des matériaux de Grande-Bretagne. Un tableau de détermination est donné pour ces quatre espèces, ainsi qu'un aperçu de leur biologie; celle deC. vulgaris demeure assez obscure.
