Summary
The contamination of the mouse via a pulmonary pathway or intraperitoneally with rickettsia ofMelolontha melolontha (Coleoptera) andGryllus bimaculatus (Orthoptera) causes a rarely lethal but typical rickettsial disease in this mammal with congestion of the lung and spleen. The rickettsia multiply in the cytoplasm of the histocytes of the lung during 8 to 12 days and cause the formation of antibodies.
