TD and AES studies of the interaction of oxygen with Rh(100)

Abstract

Interaction of oxygen with Rh(100) at\(P_{O_2 } \)=10−7–10−1 Pa and T>300 K has been studied by thermodesorption (TD) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES). It has been established that oxygen is adsorbed with a sticking coefficient of So=0.3 on the Rh surface with carbon admixtures in the near-surface region (C272/Rh302=0.025). In thermodesorption there appear β1, β2 and β3 states of oxygen. With increasing oxygen pressure under adsorption, surface rhodium oxide is formed whose decomposition evolves oxygen, which is recorded as a sharp β1 peak.

Методами ЭОС и ТД изучено взаимодействие O2 с Rh(100) в интервале давления\(P_{O_2 } \) 10−7–10−1 Па и Т>300К. Кислород адсорбируется с коэффициентом прилипания So=0,3 на поверхности родия, содержащего примеси углерода в приповерхностной области (C272/Rh302=0,025). При ТД появляются β1, β2 и β3 состояния кислорода. Увеличение давления O2 при адсорбции приводит к образованию поверхностного оксида родия, при разложении которого наблюдается выделение кислорода в виде острого β1 пика.
