Summary
Fifty seven fungi which have been earlier referred to genusPestalotia orPestalotiopsis were recovered from the leaf spots of a large number of plants growing in different regions of India. Detailed studies on the conidial morphology of various isolates were made. The species manifested a pronounced variation in the configuration of conidia and number of setulae borne over the superior hyaline cell. The authors are of the view that the original genusPestalotia is more appropriate to accommodate these widely distributed organisms.
