Summary

FourD. melanogaster established cell lines were tested for their ability to form clones. A plating efficiency of about 0.5% was achieved with a medium containing agarose, reaching 1% with agarose supplemented with a small amount of conditioned medium. Each clone, examined cytologically, displayed a specific and stable karyotype.
