Summary

A method is described for the determination of myokinase (adenylatkinase) activity in serum by means of the optical test. ADP serves as a substrate which, with the help of the enzyme, is converted to ATP. The latter is determined by means of theKornberg method. Possibilities of disturbance especially through formed blood constituents are referred to. The serum activities of healthy individuals lie under 20 IU. Of clinical importance may be the diagnosis of myo- and cardiopathies since the distribution of the enzyme in rat organs permits the recognition of a relatively high activity in skeletal and heart muscle according toOliver.
