Summary

The adducts of methylenetriphenylphosphine with hexacarbonyltungsten have been studied by1H and13C n.m.r. spectroscopy. The methyl, (CO)5WC(OMe)CHPPh3, and trifluoromethanesulphonate, (CO)5WC(OSO2CF3)CHPPh3, derivatives have been prepared and an attempt has been made to prepare the acetylenic complex,\((CO)_5 \bar WC \equiv C\mathop P\limits^ + Ph_3 \) from these adducts.
