Summary
Tension analysis with the method of finite elements shows that the mechanics of cemented artificial hip joints can be improved by use of compound insertions of femur funnel nets (FFT). They reduce harmful increase of peripheral tension and raised pressure on the area, thus causing better transfer of forces into the femur shaft. The calcar femoris is relieved and the bone resorption previously observed is prevented. The indications for using FFT are shown in clinical examples.
